Homelessness is often the result of a dysfunctional family of origin and the current family. Research shows that work experience may improve the situation in the family of origin and the current family. This study focuses on the life satisfaction of homeless persons. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data of a sample of 75 homeless persons from a shelter in the Netherlands. The results show that work experience does not directly influence life satisfaction of homeless persons. Rather, the amount of job satisfaction that a homeless person has plays an important role in how much life satisfaction he or she experiences. In addition, the negative role of life satisfaction in feeling more depressed and in more use of drugs could be found in this study.Sherdog.com
